OBJECTIVES

FRS 102 Section 23 / IFRS 15 have logical steps and are clear on the what must be done to ensure reliable figures.  Application of the section will be straightforward for many.

For construction contracts section23 /IFRS 15 acknowledges complexities and difficulties by referencing back and forth using mostly conventional words - it is left to the practitioner / auditor to comply and check proper application.

However, lifespan, changes in physical and financial detail of construction contracts requires an in depth understanding of terminology and data which often includes material inter-related estimated amounts.  Reliable, evidenced estimates are essential.

  • To explain the lexicon used in project management and the need to be very clear as to definition
  • To assist accountants and auditors in communicating with project managers, engineers etc
  • To ensure compliance with the accounting standards
