| OBJECTIVES |
The cash flow statement is the weak link in many sets of accounts! Many accountants seem totally incapable of preparing a cash flow statement properly! Many cash flow statements are riddled with compensating errors – which can often be easy to detect or suspect! Many auditors seem to be oblivious of the mistakes commonly made when preparing cash flow statements! The Financial Reporting Review Panel has criticised many companies over many years now for their continued failings in this area! This course is totally practical and revolves around a case study featuring the preparation of the consolidated cash flow statement for a group of companies including overseas interests. The requirements of both IAS 7 and FRS1 will be followed and common mistakes made in practice will be highlighted.
By attending the course you will gain:
- An understanding of how to prepare a cash flow statement from opening and closing balance sheets
- An appreciation that just because a cash flow statement balances it does not mean that it is right
